Mawr people.

That. I don't think anyone is doing much effort about it. That or perhaps you people think it's better if the community stays as small as it currently is.

And what do you suggest we do about it?

If we want more people we need to give users a reason to join. Maybe if we create better articles and tutorial relating to hacking and security or create a project. Them we just post about said project or article on other communities.

If we post something on Reddit, maybe on reddit/r/hacking, we'll surly attract more users.

I actually have some ideas about articles to write, that's why I started my Blog. It still only has one topic. http://petermlm.net84.net/wp/?p=9  ;D

I myself does not got infinite time and resources to put into writing good articles/papers/tutorials etc. And, seeing that we have grown from ~400 unique hits to now over 1000 a day in a few months. I am not to worried. And actually, w0rmtongu3 is quite right. I do like the community as it is now, perhaps a little bigger but not too much.

I used to be on another forum site which was about some kind of post-apocalypse related animation that was still under production at that time. Obviously, since there's really not much to talk about besides praising the said animation, most of the posts were in the Off-Topic Discussion board.

We only had roughly 10 to 15 regular posters. Surprisingly though, it was quite an active community. We talked about post-apocalyptic phenomenons, ninjas, guns, video games, etc.

.. and then came the spam bots that flooded the whole site with porn links.

The point is, it's not the number of members that define the activeness of the site. Sometimes, all it takes for a few people to make such a place interesting is enthusiasm. I guess we won't need an Off-Topic Discussion board, since the General Discussion seems to serve the same purpose.

I'll be here for a while. although I'm not sure if I'll be able to contribute much on tuts since I'm still learning these stuff myself. But I'll try to look around, and post some helpful guides from somewhere else.

I guess what we all mean by this is Quality over Quantity. Am I right?

Not that my opinion matters or anything, but I like evilzone as is. You see, a couple of years back, evilzone used to be your standard underground hacking forum, and the only things new people came here for were free tools that members with skills created, or for the huge amount of databases that were dumped in the name of evilzone. That was about 70% of the members.

It was different then because we were all teenagers, but now just about all of the OG's are adults. We've grown up, we have different values, different goals in life. We'll always have a spot in our hearts for security, but glorifying the law being broken, and ripping people off are things of the past. That's why a lot of new members don't stick around, because evilzone isn't a black-hat forum anymore, but at the same time I'm glad people like that don't stick around.

Evilzone isn't just a forum, it's a community, an internet familia if you will. This is my home, this is your home too, and that's why I'm glad the admins work hard and make sure the trash is taken out. Forums like evilzone are like diamonds in the rough. When you find gems like evilzone you have to admire it for what it is, and what it represents. That's just my input on this topic.

Still, I'm looking forward to finding new tips and tricks on the boards. A Challenges board would be splendid.

Exactly. Once you get here and feel the beauty, you won't want to leave.
