What would you like to see?
« on: November 24, 2010, 10:46:23 PM »
Yes, this is a cliché thread but I think we need it.

Evilzone has been through a lot of modifications this past year (For those who were there in 2009 try to remember how it was in November last year) and during that time we tried to re-open forums a few times. More than ever we want the community to get involved with the decisions we take about the new board and the IRC.

So, what would you like to see on the boards and IRC? Go ahead and suggest anything you want! Features, ideas, concepts, etc.. Of course we probably won't be able to make everything come true but we'll try our best.

Please go ahead and shoot ideas.. and don't complain about missing features if you didn't take the time to suggest it first.

Latest version of the "Thanks mod" only works for v2.0 RC3 and we are running RC4. Will keep checking for updates.

I would like to be able to modify or delete my own topics. Sometimes you make mistakes and want to fix them.
I said nothing, I tried to modify a post I made and locked, so I couldn't.

Regular members can lock their own threads, delete and edit their posts. However they cannot remove a thread they created if people have replied in it. (But if you want to simply report the thread and request a deletion in "reason" )

How about for starters an introduction section. Great way to get familiar with new and old members.

If you find a guide on how to integrate geshi with SMF please PM me. I'll keep looking but so far I found nothing that works for syntax highlighting for SMF v2.

Edit: Added a mod in beta using SyntaxHighlighter. It's in beta right now so we'll test it a bit and see how it goes. This independant developper also have other versions of the mod using other syntax highlighters.

Edit2: Installed a new one. Seems better and should auto-detect languages. Please report any bugs.

Its very hard to maintain a serious tools section, but well take it into consideration.

Its very hard to maintain a serious tools section, but well take it into consideration.

I was about to suggest this. Now how about not a "tools" section but more of a "tools of the trade" section. Several hackers use various programs to accomplish their needs, some more popular then others. For example nMap, I doubt there's a hacker who doesn't use nMap (well I guess depending on the type of hacker) then there are an array of vulnerability scanners, fuzzers, etc. Then there are operating systems such as backtrack with a bunch of tools, however not everyone knows how to utilize the host of tools it has. Of course the section would need to be moderated (like the EZ Tools section) and of course the tools should be probably formatted like such (for example)

Title -Goes in the subject should be something like this:
[Win/Nix]nMap

Then as far as the message goes should include a picture (if its cli, very simple to open up terminal and app --help) Then a description of the functions of the application. Then a quick run down on how to use the application properly.

Then if skiddys come by and try and fill it with "hack tools" with a backdoor programmed in VB, then remove the feature.

This is a Hacking and Security board, there should be a section for tools that hackers and security enthusiast use.

I'm sure you remember the tool section on the previous board (although not opened to the public) you saw the posts I had made in there. Purely education and to help the common user learn more about security and hacking.

I'll agree to a Tools board but only for "official" tools at first.

Like iTpHo3NiX pointed out nmap is widely used and trojan / backdoor free. So the thread about nmap would contain information on the tool, OS is operates on, maybe screenshots and a link to the developer's page where the user can download the official version.
